Cross Border Cooperation for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Impact Mitigation Project seeks to establish or support already existing in-country network in order to initiate multi-stakeholder collaborative planning of advocacy activities on a country level. At the point of project launch in April, 2012, in-country network mechanism had been already established in all of the participating countries and respectively the project teams got actively engaged in various activities and meeting organized within the frameworks of given networks.
Project Local Partner in Azerbaijan (Struggle against AIDS Public Union) has been a member of Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) since 2007 and a member of CCM HIV Group since 2010. Majority of the project stakeholders, including National AIDS Center, UNAIDS, UNODC, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education etc, are represented and actively participating in CCM and HIV Group, which are headed by the Minister of Healthcare of Azerbaijan.
Being a member of CCM enables the project Local Partner in Azerbaijan to use a network as a platform to initiate discussions on any issues related to HIV/AIDS and prepare a background of sustainable collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Struggle against AIDS Public Union Representatives has been regularly attending monthly meetings of CCM HIV group, where they updated the Committee members on project specifics and progress. This action contributed to enhancing project visibility, as well as highlighting the linkages of HIV/AIDS and migration.
Since World Vision, together with implementing partners, is a pioneer in Southern Caucasus region in terms of addressing HIV/AIDS Prevention issue through the perspective of migration, it is crucial to emphasize this particular component during meetings with stakeholders, especially those organized within the frameworks of in-country networks, in order to engage sufficient number of active NSAs, GOs and IOs in future national and regional advocacy actions.
